How to Hide Entire Drives Partition Without Registry

If you want to hide your entire drive partition, then you can use this cool trick which hides entire hard disk drives by a simple procedure.
This is the best security tip to be employ against unauthorised users.

Steps:

Go to Start > Run > type “diskpart“.
Then type “list volume“
Suppose you want to hide drive E then type “select volume 3″
Now type “remove letter E“
Sometime it requires to reboot the computer.
Diskpart will remove the letter.

Note: Windows XP is not having capabilty to identify the unknown volume.
Your Data is now safe from unauthorised users.

To access the content of hidden Drive repeat the process mentioned above. But in 4th step replace ” remove” by “assign”.
It means type “assign letter E”.

How to recover MOST of scratched CD data discs

I,today, learn an old technique to how to recover a damaged or scratched cd disks with very minute loss of data. In this case i have a game with a chunck of 4 mb lost with a scratch in CD1 Install. Here we cover some special techniques of how to create a full working CD from the scratched one.

First some tools will be needed:

1. Alcohol 120%
2. UltraISO
3. Windows XP/2000 (not tested on 95/98/me)
3. Small piece of cotton
4. Dry cleaner paper
5. Finally, oil for cooking.

First step – preparing the CD

Get the cotton and drop some water, start cleaning vertically the surface of CD.

Do it 3 times and dry the water with a piece of dry cleaner paper. With a new piece of cotton, drop some oil for cooking and start to wet the surface like you are washing the CD with the oil. Dry carefully now. Some particles of oil will stay on the microsurface of the scrath. It’s okay.
Seems the oil helps the laser of the CD/DVD driver to read the surface again. Sure this will work with small unreadable scratchs – some hard scratchs loose parts of the surface of the CD where we have data and it’s lost forever.
But if it is loosed try anyway. Whith this tip 80% of the small scratched CD’s coud be recovered.

Second Step – testing the CD

With Alcohol 120% make an ISO – image making wizard – and lets see if the app can read the loosed surface. In my case Alcohol 120% had recovered 60% of the data.

This is not enough. Have tryed other appz, they do not recover all the data. But the CD/DVD driver laser CAN recover all data in this case. the data is still there, what we do?

Third step – making the new CD

With the main copy system of windows explorer you can do it. Just create one folder with the same name of the CD label for future burn reference, and copy the CD content to the folder.
When the CD copy process find the scratch, in majority of the cases, it’s slow down the reading and will recover ALL loosed data.If not, it just tell you there’s an unreadable sector.
In this case your CD is lost. But it’s not my case, finally windows explorer got all the data from the scratch and made a copy in the folder with the ultraISO, wrote the original CD label, drop the content of the folder and save as Iso. You can Test the new CD just mounting the iso in the Alcohol 120%.
In my case i did ISO of the two discs from MAX PAYNE 2 and tested installing from the mounted ISO. Works like a charm. I got the 4 mb lost again. So, I have burned the CD and now i have a working copy from the scratched one.

Sounds too bizzarre, but works. Course you can jump the cleaning process and try to copy the content with Windows explorer. But in my case did not work without oil.

Try it and have fun.

* Note: This is not a new trick. It is a very old trick. I,today, just came to know about this that’s why i wrote it so that you may come to know about this too.

If you want to use your system at much faster speed, you can now do it by increasing its virtual memory.

With this trick, you can enhance your system’s speed and can use it at much faster speed. I , at Devilslab, am going to tell you the trick.

Here are the steps!!

Hold down the ‘Windows‘ Key and Press the ‘Pause/Break’ button at the top right of your keyboard. Another way is Right-Clicking ‘My Computer’ and then Select ‘Properties’.
Click on the ‘Advanced’ tab.
Under ‘Performance’, click ‘Settings’.
Then click the ‘Advanced’ tab on the button that pops up.
Under ‘Virtual Memory‘ at the bottom, click ‘Change’.
Click the ‘Custom Size’ button.
For the initial size (depending on your HD space), type in anywhere from 1000-1500 (although I use 4000), and for the Maximum size type in anywhere from 2000-2500 (although I use 6000).
Click ‘Set’, and then exit out of all of the windows.
Finally, Restart your computer.
You now have a faster computer and 1-2GB of Virtual RAM..!

Here is the simple trick through which you can access saved passwords.

HOW TO ACCESS REGISTRY ??

Goto Start Menu.
Click on Run.
Type “regedit” (without quotes) in the Run Box .After that this Windows Opens . Now you are ready to see that.

LOCATIONS OF SAVED PASSWORDS !

FOR INTERNET EXPLORER 4.00 – 6.00

The passwords are stored in a secret location in the Registry known as the “Protected Storage“.

The base key of the Protected Storage is located under the following key:

“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider“.

You can browse the above key in the Registry Editor (RegEdit), but you won’t be able to watch the passwords, because they are encrypted.

Also, this key cannot easily moved from one computer to another, like you do with regular Registry keys.

FOR INTERNET EXPLORER 7.00 – 8.00
The new versions of Internet Explorer stores the passwords in 2 different locations.

AutoComplete passwords are stored in the Registry under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\Storage2.

HTTP Authentication passwords are stored in the Credentials file under

Documents and Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Credentials

, together with login passwords of LAN computers and other passwords.

FIREFOX

The passwords are stored in one of the following filenames: signons.txt, signons2.txt, and signons3.txt (depends on Firefox version)

These password files are located inside the profile folder of Firefox, in

[Windows Profile]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[Profile Name]

Also, key3.db, located in the same folder, is used for encryption/decription of the passwords.

GOOGLE CHROME WEB BROWSER

The passwords are stored in

[Windows Profile]\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Web Data

(This filename is SQLite database which contains encrypted passwords and other stuff)

OPERA

The passwords are stored in wand.dat filename, located under
[Windows Profile]\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile

There are some more application whose password storage you probably want to know, like Outlook Express, Outlook 98/2000, Windows Live Mail, ThunderBird, Google Talk, Google Desktop, Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AIM, ICQ Lite, Digsby, PaltalkScene. Wait for it !! I will provide it on my next post.

Sometimes it happens that your Windows XP login screen doesn’t come and the system boot’s but doesn’t enter the desktop. There might be some cases when the Windows XP login screen doesn’t come and the system boot’s but doesn’t enter the desktop.

What’s the fault ?

The possible reason is a corrupt kernel32.dll.

How to fix this error?

Boot with the XP CD-ROM.
Select Repair windows option (and not the install windows option, this will reinstall the windows and delete the C:/ data).

A DOS window will come, type these commands carefully…
cd c:/windows/system32 (hit enter)

ren kernel32.dll kernel32.old

cd d:/i386 (hit enter – here d: is CD-ROM Drive)

expand kernel32.dl_ c:/windows/system32 (hit enter – use the underscore with ‘dl_’)
now the message comes ’1 file expanded’
that it, now you can boot the windows without CD, and the logon screen will come.

I have seen many people using pendrives or USB drives, suffering from viruses in their pendrives. One of the most poplular is AUTORUN.INF.

What is autorun.inf ?

AUTORUN.INF Viruses are virus that uses the Autorun feature of Windows to spread itself on computers. This virus makes a copy of the autorun.inf file to the root or main directory of all the drives on your PC, internal and / or external disks, to make the virus runs every time the external disks like pendrives or USB drives were inserted or every time you double-click the drives through the Windows Explorer.

How to remove or block autorun.inf virus ?

For this purpose, you can download a software called “USB Disk Security”. This will automatically detecc virus whenever you insert pendrive and more importantly it will remove your virus as well.

Preventing AUTORUN.INF virus manually

The following are just generic instructions and some of the steps might not be applicable to some virus infections that uses autorun.inf.

The method is to create an AUTORUN.INF folder on the root directories (main directory usually represented by backslash symbol \ ) . You can do this via Windows Explorer or Command Prompt but I will recommend the method via Command Prompt.

To run command prompt, click Start then Run or press the key combination: Winkey + R

Type CMD then press enter. This will open the black and white environment.

On the prompt, type MD C:\AUTORUN.INF then press enter key.

Repeat this procedure to other hard drives and USB drives. Just replace the C letter from the command with the appropriate drive letter of each storage device.
